Hmmm I had some unexplained headaches yesterday that didn't really go away after a paracetamol, and again today. But the good is that I went into town to buy some books - it's national book week and if you spend at least 11,50 euros you get a special book for free. I bought "Quicksilver" by Neal Stephenson and "The Honourable Schoolboy" by John le Carré. Then I went to a bookshop of leftover books, therefore cheap, and I noticed they had a bunch of "naughty" books, so I bought some :-)

My dead plant on my balcony (Greenie) showed signs of spring: it was showing green bits budding in the "armpits"... I definitely had to prune it before it wasted more energy on a large carcass. But the inside of the brown dried out stem was surprisingly green... (I know nothing about plants so I am easily amazed by these kind of things :)

And another good thing: I replaced my refrigerator. I estimate it must be 20 years old, and the door was not closing properly anymore. When an acquaintance mentioned he wanted to get rid of his 3 year old fridge because he was moving, I grabbed the opportunity (after some thinking, of course, to contemplate the consequences). I'm still pondering what to do with the old one, give it to a second-hand shop, or dump it because it is probably an old inefficient energy-hog and should no longer be inflicted on the world.

Oh, and the court case. The public prosecutor immediately conceded that there had been a mistake. You would think that this is good, but in fact it wasn't really. The next thing he did was change the charge (to the correct one), which meant my appeal became moot, and the judge could reject it. That in turn meant that I had no right to compensation of my time... which I had counterclaimed because I felt that the time (several hours) I had to put into the appeal procedures was in fact more punishment than a simple fine of 15 euro. So now I do have to pay the fine[1] and I won't be compensated for my lost time. Grrr.

[1] in fact, in order to be allowed to appeal the incorrect fine I had to pay it, so I should get back the difference.
