I had a great time in Cambridge last weekend. I visited someone I had met at BiCon to get to know each other better - and I think we did :-) We did a lot of walking around Cambridge, and London too. For instance we had a nice walk to the Orchard Tea Garden (without too much rain, back home it was apparently much much worse), and I was also introduced to the CB1 coffee shop (and books, and Internet, and WiFi) which turned out to have a small computer museum too on the top shelves, and I was a bit jealous of the Commodore PET they had there, since it was (almost) the model that was my first introduction to computers (in 1979/80). With that computer the place should really have been called CB2 (after the I/O pin that was used to make sounds on the PET).
Flying out to Cambridge (Stansted, really) posed no problems (well I had to get up at 5:45...): when checking in the desk person said I could take my suitcase as cabin luggage (after all it is cabin luggage size) but the security check discovered the swiss army knife that I had not thought about. So I had to check it in anyway.
On the way back though things didn't quite go so smoothly. I read somewhere that one was supposed to check in no less than three hours before departure - which I didn't, since I had read two elsewhere, and the train schedule put me there two and a half hours before anyway. The check-in didn't even open until two hours before anyway, and the queue was immediately an hour long. After that, the incoming aircraft was 30-45 minutes delayed, too. All this standing around in queues was much worse on my feet than all the walking I had done... And I got a taste of the dutch rain when I cycled home...
