De Heideroosjes
May. 11th, 2007 12:25 amI'm just back from Doornroosje which is a club[0] in town, where I was because De Heideroosjes played there (they are a punk(rock) band and are doing their tour for their 8th album).
Due to the expected noise levels I had brought some earplugs, which I tried during the support act. The effect is very weird, probably because they were not made for this particular use. They worked so well (although more on the high tones than on the low tones) that I almost started to feel isolated. The noise made by the audience was completely gone, but some of the noise from the band remained. It sounded kind of dull though. So I took them out in the break before the main show.
The people who come to such a concert are kind of weird. At first a lot of them appear to be rather dodgy, but there is a positive atmosphere, and none of the crowd surfers (and there are many of them) are dropped on the floor; they are even actively steered away from the gap in the crowd where the mixing desk is.
They played a lot of songs from their new cd, but fortunately also some older ones which I could know already. I'm listening now to the cd I bought... which does make it a lot easier to actually understand the lyrics.
[0] actually I disagree with this newfangled use of the word "club"; a club is a football club or a walking club or a chess club or a technical experimentation club...
