Books books books

rhialtoI went into town today so that I would see more people than just who I would see if I stayed home (i.e. none at all), or, like the previous days of this week, at work (hardly anyone).
After yesterday's relative coldness the sun came out again and it was nicely warm; I went out in shorts and a sleeveless top. For some reason I like it because it shows my shoulders. (Maybe because it's only usable in warm weather? Or would I be vain?) There were lots of other cute scantily-clad people around. At BiCon I could go up to someone and tell them they were sexy (which was taken with a thank-you and no further presumptions), but in the so-called Real World I don't think this would be an acceptable thing to do.
Of course I could not stop myself from going into my favourite bookshop De Slegte (where they sell surplus books relatively cheaply). Near the door already were large piles of fresh books, such as The Complete Illustrated Lewis Carroll for just 9 euro. I already had Alice In Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, but those are just the first 250 of the 1165 pages. [ while writing this I was phoned by an ex-gf, who wanted some attention, so I went off and came back ]
And I bought book that can be described as very a-typical for me: a book with poems. I am not interested in poetry in general. I don't seem to have a patience for poetry. This description is of course one that one would only use when wanting to be deceptive: it was a Book of Limericks. Limericks are nice and short and funny, and usually interestingly filthy :-)
[Edit:]While I was inside, I overheard somebody who pointed out that they put the XXX-comics on the top shelf over the books about religion (and directly below the respective sign). :-)

I don't think Lewis Carroll could imagine that in our day and age, young ladies in Whitby would like to be bitten by things with wings (or at least with wings when they were in their bat shape)...
