Work, Weather, and Wusic
Jun. 8th, 2007 04:16 pmLots of things happened recently on the work front. My contract (which was already renewed twice, most recently in january) ran out on the 1st of this month. Thanks however to very extensive lobbying of my professor (who desperately wanted to continue on the programming), there is some new funding. It goes through some interesting channels though, and officially I will (next week) be an employee of the business-side of the University of Amsterdam, paid for by a bioinformatics fund and stationed in Nijmegen.
In the mean time, it is 30 °C outside, and I already heard soundcheck noises from my garden, where the Rolling Stones will perform later tonight. It is not sold out, and it is said that the ticket hoarders have reduced their prices to almost half of the list price (which is far too high anyway). Outside of the fence it will be perfectly ok to listen, and drink your own drinks (at a price which is actually affordable). I really hope for the paying audience that his time their bottles of water won't be confiscated at the gates. (That sort of ridiculous policies keep me from even considering going into such events, it is really insane that one is forced not only to pay a hefty admission fee but also to buy the crap and expensive foods and drinks). Later this month there will be the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam.
I also have a GreatestJournal now. I wonder if I can somehow upload the "offline copy" of my entries that I made with Logjam.
