They got more water than they wanted...
Jun. 8th, 2007 11:39 pmLess than 2 hours after I was afraid that the crowds would die of draught, the sky closed, winds started to blow, and thunder and rain seemed imminent. For at least an hour, they remained very imminent, but then it started. A truly torrential downpour. And then another when the first one seemed to be subsiding. But, by nine, when the Stones actually started, it was dry. Clouded still, but dry.
The first hour they mainly played stuff I didn't really recognise (after the opener, Start Me Up). I had found a nice spot to the side on a slight hill, which allowed a view over the blinded fences toward the big, big screen. (Good invention, these screens). Satisfaction, Sympathy for the Devil. Brown Sugar, Paint It Black. Part of the rain evaporated but didn't get very far since it was still clouded, so it got a bit misty. That was nice for the light show effects.
Unfortunately they never played my favourite song, so I'm playing it now.
