Last week I was in London briefly, mainly to visit Isabelle's solicitor who takes care of her affairs now. Previously, Eric and I had collected some important papers regarding the mortgage, life insurance, bank accounts etc. Just to be on the safe side I took some more folders with bank statements and things like that with me.
Satchel came with me to the solicitor, representing the lodgers. They told me they preferred to go without an agency for rent collecting, since Jason had pretty useless experiences with one and they wouldn't do much useful. However after considering that there needs to be a stable party to pay the utility bills and such, they had come to the conclusion that one would be pretty much unavoidable. However, as the solicitor reasoned, that wouldn't be needed until about the time that people moved out, and hence other people would move in.
So we talked for about half an hour, and that was that. The solicitor would take care of all paperwork, and if anything needed to be signed, he would send it to Isabelle's parents ready to go.
Since it was a sunny morning, and we crossed a canal on the way back. We decided to walk along it. It turned out to be called the Regent's Canal. It is amazing how different a city can look if you're seeing it from an unusual vantage point. Following the canal we ended up in Camden, where Satchel showed me a bit of the market. I must admit it was completely different from what I had imagined. Not that I had spent much time on imagining it, but I was more thinking of a traditional square with stalls, or something of the sort, not the dungeon-like stables that I saw. I wouldn't mind visiting again, not for the shops, but just to look at the dungeons.
After that we continued along the canal until we got close to King's Cross, where we left the canal and took the tube back home.

Before that, I had spent the monday going through Isabelle's things to look for the ring that her mother would like to have. Unfortunately I didn't find it. I only found some set of rings and bracelets that looked like they would be useful for some witch ritual.

Monday evening, Martine had invited me for dinner, and Mary and Eric were there too. It was a delicious meal and during and after it, time flew. Before we knew it, it was time for the last tube. At least, that's what I thought, but when I got to the station there was a sign saying the last northbound service would be at 0.45 (almost an hour later). So I needn't have hurried so much...

I don't know when I'll be back in London. I have no immediate plans. However, I can use Isabelle's room whenever I want.

The rest of the week (well, that would be only wednesday and thursday) I worked. Fortunately there were some algorithmic problems to put my teeth in. The weekend I spent at my parents', to have company.

I still have lots of people to write back, who wrote nice messages to me. One time I was even Mr I Micholet; that made me smile. Everybody is telling me how nice and friendly Isabelle was, and how she helped them in their lives. It is so so sad that the world has lost her...
