Yesterday when I woke up and wanted to make tea, there was no water coming from the tap. That, and the fact that I also could not splash some cold water into my face made it rather difficult to wake up. I mean, milk tastes very good and is really healthy, but it is not quite the same thing.

So I phoned the building corporation to complain. Apparently, if I looked out the window I could see some car there of the people working on the problem. That is, if I had lived on the front of the building.

When I returned home in the evening, the corporation had delivered letters to all tenants explaining the situation to those who had not found out by themselves already. Apparently there was an electricity malfunction (which I never noticed, my alarm clock and my computer were still working fine) and the dirty-water pump had shut down, causing the sewers to overflow in the basement and the ground floor. Ew! To prevent the problem getting worse, they had shut down the water supply. That makes a lot of sense. Even so it was really a mess, because the cleaners were only just leaving when I arrived home at around 20.00, so they had been busy for hours.

They apologised for the inconvenience, but claimed that all liability was with the electricity company. That is, however, something that I don't quite believe. I would think it is gross negligence to make a sewer system that does not resist the loss of the electricity supply... Fortunately I sustained no damage at all, except for being somewhat grumpier than otherwise while slowly waking up. But if I had, I would certainly claim damages from the building corporation, or suggest to my insurance company that they would do so.

Oh, and the new season of Angel (the fifth) has started! I have seen the first two episodes and they start to develop the very interesting premise that was the big surprise at the end of last season. I hope they will make it as good as it promises to be.
