Book-buying
Feb. 8th, 2004 06:31 pmI've bought a couple of new books yesterday. As if my pile of unread books isn't big enough already. (Currently I am reading John le Carré's latest book "True Friends").
I finally found the newest book in my "well-known series" (The Bob Evers series). It is a series of adventure/detective books for 14 year old boys, that I read at that age, and really liked a lot. They were originally written in the 1950s/60s by Willy van der Heide, but in recent years they have been continued by Peter de Zwaan. They have a really strange concept of time. In some 40 years the main character age maybe 10 years at the most. It's not really literature, and to be honest, the latest books aren't even very good, but I would feel incomplete without a complete collection...
The other book I bought is Neal Stephenson (and Frederick George)'s Interface. According to the blurb it is about a presidential candidate with a computer link inside his head. Since I liked Cryptomomicon, I expect I'll like this book too.
